I love watching to see what the smallest critters are doing this time of year. Well, I love seeing some of them. Bumblebees are definitely some of my favorites. The kumquat-sized queens are particularly delightful. I’m always proud to show them my magnificent dandelions when they come through to check out the real estate. I think they are tucked away in their nests for the season now. Lately, I have been seeing smaller bumblebees around my raspberry and clover flowers. Yesterday, I saw a honeybee enjoying some raspberry flowers too.

Grasshoppers are another one of my favorites. They are teeny tiny little guys this time of year. Yesterday I saw several that were 2-3mm long. I squealed with delight like a small child. It’s amazing how high they can jump! I think they can jump as high as I can. When they are bigger, they can jump as high as my shoulder. It’s fun to watch them grow up.
